Weekly Learning Review
Class:              Year 5              Week Ending: 22/03/2018
Literacy
·         Diary features have been reinforced and examples read aloud by children
·         Comprehension exam has been completed
·         Introduction of entries from historical diaries including soldier’s diaries from the First World War contrast with examples of humourous tone 
Mathematics
·         The Topic on Polygons has been worked on by the class and many have extended their skills beyond expectations. Challenging ways of discovering interior and exterior angles have been attempted using a formula which involves using subtraction, multiplying and dividing; thereby giving practical contexts for using rules of number
·         Fractions have also been completed and remaining misunderstandings given extra attention 
Science
·         The Solar system has been continued using video representations of the sun and planets including what it’s like on the surfaces of gas giants
·         The declassification of Pluto from the list of planets was also investigated

Humanities
·         Having examined historical invasion and settlement, we are looking at reasons for people moving from their homelands today
Personal, Social, Health, Citizenship Education
·         Leading on from the attributes, we are proud on we have continued to value the importance of self- esteem and having high expectations of ourselves in order to develop positive learning habits which bring success throughout our lives
