Weekly Learning Review

Class:    5                              Week Ending: 24 January 2018
Spelling: Defined words with ‘our’ and ‘ure’ endings. Students were asked to look up the definitions in the dictionary and explained.

Comprehension: Students used various comprehension strategies to answer questions from on both fiction and non-fiction passages.

Writing: Students were asked to design a leaflet that promotes a city with historic sights and amusements. Also they were taught to recognise the key organisational features of a leaflet.

Students worked in their student math books to practice tenths and hundredths and  decimals value. They were also taught how to find at least one number between two decimal numbers and grow their understanding of decimal numbers.

Students were taught tenths and hundredths (with decimals) while checking their answers together as a class.

Students learned about light and shadows; the various properties of shadows and how they interact with light to produce different, sizes and shapes of shadows. Practical examples were given to grow the children's understanding of the topic.
Introduction to the “Norse Mythology” by working and reading a comprehension passage about Vikings  together. Students were given individual time and the topic was discussed in class. Then they were asked to answer the questions individually and answers were reviewed and corrected at the end of the lesson
Personal, Social, Health, Citizenship Education
Students discussed the definition of hardwork  and perseverance and how they can apply it in the classroom and outside of school. We discussed how this could be a life changing factor and how they should implement those actions everyday in their lives.
