Week Ending: 16.11.17

Class:      5                                      Week Ending: 16.11.17
The children have been learning about poetry this week. They have been reading with expression and they have answered comprehension questions onA Day In Life Of Danny The Car.They are continuing to write for meaning; focussing on demarcating each sentence with a capital letter at the beginning and a full stop at the end.
We have been practising the Christmas show in earnest this week; developing skills in public speaking learning lines and singing songs.
The children have been identifying and extending number sequences. They have also been learning to use units of measurement for length such as millimetre, centimetre and kilometre. They have estimated length and seen how measurement fits into everyday life.
This week, we visited the Roman Amphitheatre and Pompey’s Pillar. The children were excited to see history in ‘real life’ and they are beginning to understand that what we know about ancient history depends on what has survived from that time.
Personal, Social, Health, Citizenship Education
This week’s Personal Learning Goal is ‘Open- Mindedness’. The children have been learning  to develop a sense of open-mindedness and empathy by looking at characters in stories and discussing why they act in the way that they do.
